We offer a full range of contraceptive services including: the implant, Mirena (intrauterine system), copper coil (intrauterine device), injection, combined pill, progesterone only pill (mini pill), ring, patch, caps and diaphragms, condoms and fertility awareness.

Cervical Screening (Smear) Tests

Cervical screening (smear) tests are offered to everyone who has a cervix and is between the ages of 25 and 65. Further information on this, including how often smears are offered, can be found on the NHS website and on the Jo's trust website. You can book an appointment for a smear test with one of our Nursing Team by completing an 'Administrative Queries' e consult or by contacting Reception.

We understand that you may feel apprehensive about having a smear test or that you may have questions or concerns. Please feel free to book an appointment with a practice nurse to discuss these.  

STI testing

Did you know our Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing service is available for people who have no STI symptoms, and would like to get themselves checked?

Our simple home testing kits require either a urine or a vaginal swab sample and full instructions are included in the kit.

If you would like to request an STI screening kit please submit an e consult under the heading ‘General Advice’ or speak with a member of our Reception Team. Please remember to request your test results 3 working days after returning the kit to the surgery. You can do this by completing an 'Administrative queries' e consult or by contacting Reception.

The Sexual Health Website for Bexley

Bexley's Sexual Health Website is a one-stop website providing all Bexley residents with comprehensive information and advice on sexual health.

This includes advice on how to avoid contracting Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and how to access free testing for STIs, the Chlamydia screening programme, advice on contraception, free condom services, advice on how to avoid unintended or unwanted pregnancies and how to find your nearest confidential Sexual Health Clinic.

Other Sexual Health Services

Bexley Contraception and Sexual Health Service (BSH) provide a confidential contraception and sexual health advice service to people under 25. THIS IS NO LONGER A WALK-IN SERVICE.  Patients can call 020 8301 8920 option 1 Mon-Fri 09:30-16:30 to speak with a nurse who will give advice, or be able to book an appointment

The clinic provides a full range of sexual health checks and contraception and also treatment for genital warts. Free condoms, lubricant and dental dams are available: BSH (Bexley Contraception and Sexual Health) - Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

The Trafalgar Clinic at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich provides sexual health, contraception and HIV service to all Bexley residents. Services offered: HIV Care, Sexual health testing and management, HIV pre- and post exposure prophylaxis, emergency contraceptive pill, free condoms. 56 Dean Street is an expert sexual health clinic in London which focuses on the needs of the LGBTQI+ community. Their services include: STI testing, HIV care, HIV pre- and post exposure prophylaxis and Trans and Non-binary services including cervical smear taking. Burrell Street Reproductive and Sexual Health clinic in London offers a full range of contraceptive and sexual health services including: contraception and pregnancy advice, STI testing, pre- exposure HIV prophylaxis and chemsex harm reduction advice and talking therapies.
